News ReleasesAugust 18, 2011 Dakotafest enthusiasts may have flocked to Mitchell Thursday
in search of South Dakota producers, food vendors and politicians, but
the American Red Cross decided it, too, would join the farm festivities
– and parked its ERV right, smack next to the tractors and construction
equipment. The Red Cross’s ERV – Emergency Response Vehicle
– was brought to Mitchell’s Dakotafest by Leonard Dankey
and Dale Bosch, Red Cross volunteers from Sioux Falls.
March 14, 2011 March is American Red Cross Awareness Month and the local
chapter drew winners for its latest fundraiser – one with a little
more power behind it. There were 119 raffle tickets sold for a Yamaha
Grizzly 350 four-wheeler, with the winner coming all the way from Washington
state to retrieve it. The drawing was made at the March meeting of the
local chapter and Kerry Griffith, of Dryden, Wash., who purchased 10
raffle tickets online, won the four-wheeler, valued at $6,000.
Mission StatementThe American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its Congressional Charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement. |
